TONSILLITIS

Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils located in the back of the mouth. Bacterial infection leads to severe throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, and drooling.

Tonsillitis infections are treated with antibiotics and usually resolve in 5-7 days.

However, children with recurrent tonsil infections (3 or more per year) would benefit from a tonsillectomy surgery to remove the tonsils and prevent further infections.
